The president called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM with 10 members present.

The minutes from the last meeting were read and approved.

The treasurer's report was given. A list of bills to be paid was given. A motion was made and seconded to pay the bills. Motion carried.

The president read a letter about the Lincoln Day program that would be held on Sunday, February 6, 2005 at the Lincoln Boyhood Memorial in Lincoln City, Indiana.

It was mentioned again about microfilming the missing years of The Democrat (1971 -1980) and The Journal (1950). The State Archives does have some of the years on microfilm, but they don't have the permission slips from the papers that would allow copies to be made for us. It was also mentioned that the papers copied did have some articles missing. A member was going to check about getting a price to have copies made.

The plaque for Bess Ehrmann was finished. It will be placed below the picture that is already in the Genealogy Room and will explain the contributions she has made to Spencer County and the Historical Society.

A letter was read from The Friends of Lincoln Pioneer Village and Museum asking about a donation to help them get a grant. As we have had no meeting since December, the deadline was past for giving a donation.

The president had an e-mail about purchasing a copy of the 1879 Illustrated Atlas of Spencer County. This book is out of print at this time. There was a discussion about the possibility of getting reprints made. A member is going to check with the Evansville Bindery about the cost of reprinting.

A workday at the Rockport Cemetery was mentioned again. Talk concerned time and resources needed to continue the work.

It was brought up about purchasing various books for the Genealogy Room. A motion was made and seconded to buy the books. Motion carried.

The Huffman Bridge was mentioned again. It was suggested that someone contact Parke County to see what is used on their covered bridges to get off the graffiti.

It appears that Jim Cooper will be the speaker at our annual "Historian of the Year" banquet. Plans will be discussed at the next meeting.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn. The motion carried.

The meeting adjourned at 8:15 PM.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at 6:30 PM.
